Granite countertops, whether in your kitchen or bathroom, have been the spotlight of many interior design photo shoots for the better part of a decade now. They aren’t the cheapest addition to your renovation plans, but many people still insist on spending a fortune on them. Granite is even making its way to our sinks, and many homeowners are looking up franke granite sink reviews online. That’s a Swiss company that has recently become extremely popular in the United States. This article aims to look for reasons people still value granite countertops despite their expensive price tag.

Maintenance

Who wants to use materials that make our lives harder? We all look for solutions to the mundane everyday tasks that we are required to do, such as wiping down counters and scrubbing sinks. Anything that makes our life easier, even by the smallest increment, will be popular. Granite is a material that is extremely easy to clean and care for. Most of the time, all that is needed is a simple wipe with a damn cloth and soap.

Durability

It isn’t just their popularity that lasted long. Granite is a very durable material, so it’s no surprise that people are in love with it for countertops  and other uses. Unlike other materials that have proven they aren’t going to last forever, granite is continuously showing homeowners that they made the right choice. It’s scratch and stain resistant too. As a countertop, it has the advantage of being heat resistant. This means that homeowners need not worry much about hot pans or curling irons placed on the granite surface, because very rarely will it be damaged from heat. As such, you can easily expect that any granite fixture in your home will last you well over thirty years. That’s a lifetime investment that justifies the initial high price. That makes it count as more affordable in the long run.

Beauty

Let’s face it, we aren’t always thinking of practicality when we renovate. The truth is, granite has a luxurious natural beauty to it, especially if you splurged for white. Although it’s all granite, no two countertops are the same because the slabs are all unique. This natural random arrangement of patterns makes each countertop much more visually pleasing. No matter how other materials try to mimic the natural (random) pattern in bronze, they still seem fake and man-made. Additionally, when other materials (such as quartz) are used to mimic the granite aesthetic, they cannot replicate its durability. The other materials used are inevitably damaged within a short period of time, from scratches and stains.

Despite the slightly higher price of granite countertops, they are nonetheless increasing in popularity. Some types are even being offered at lower prices, making them more affordable. Even so, their long-lasting nature makes them an economic investment in the long run, and we don’t think that they will run out of style anytime soon. Granite, as a material, has made its way to our homes and it seems that it is here to stay.
